I woofer della linea Mille sono stati in questi anni la scelta di molti appassionati che cercano performance estreme; con l’ML 1650.3 Legend e l’ML 1800.3 Legend i progettisti hanno alzato di nuovo il limite delle prestazioni raggiungibili dai componenti progettati per l’installazione in portiera.
Per arrivare a questi risultati, lo staff R&D ha condotto un lunghissimo periodo di voicing in auto, dopo aver realizzato diversi prototipi con il metodo di simulazione FEA ed averli collaudati con un ampio set di misure condotte con la suite Klippel®.

Migliorare un tweeter che è considerato un riferimento è un compito molto impegnativo che può essere svolto solamente con un’evoluzione continua nel tempo e un’attenzione estrema per ogni dettaglio che ha una conseguenza sul suono.
Da questi presupposti nasce l’Hertz ML 280.3 Legend. I progettisti elettroacustici, tramite simulazioni FEA, hanno condotto una lunga ricerca che ha portato all’ottimizzazione della geometria della cupola in Tetolon per minimizzare la distorsione.
Questa metodologia di ottimizzazione ha portato anche alla rivisitazione della geometria del face-plate per migliorare la risposta in frequenza e la dispersione.
Un altro componente del tweeter di particolare importanza per il suono è la camera acustica posteriore: i progettisti hanno compiuto una ricerca esaustiva sulla geometria e sul materiale smorzante impiegato arrivando ad aumentare il volume totale del 50% in modo da estendere la risposta verso le frequenze più basse con un frequenza di risonanza di appena 900Hz.

  1. Neodymium magnet optimized with FEA simulations of the magnetic flux for utmost control and fast response to the transients.
  2. Extremely pure copper short circuit ring, for excellent very high frequency extension.
  3. Die-cast aluminium face plate with profile optimized with FEA simulations to improve frequency response and dispersion.
  4. Tetolon Fiber dome optimized with FEA simulations for lower distortion and improved dispersion in high frequency range.
  5. Frame structure and rear load chamber both derived from a CNC machined solid aluminium block, to ensure mechanically inert response to resonances.
  6. Rear chamber sized for only 900 Hz Fs: low Fs ensures wide extension in low frequency range and low distortion also in the crossing section, allowing a decreased cut-off frequency.
  7. High-density damping material underneath the dome, low-density absorbing material in the rear chamber, providing fluid acoustic emission and high damping in the low frequency response.
